Principal Second Violin, Cleveland Orchestra
Stephen Rose has served as Principal Second Violin of The Cleveland Orchestra since 2001. Appointed to Cleveland Orchestra violin section, 1997. B.M., Cleveland Institute of Music. M.M., the Eastman School of Music. Teachers include William Preucil, David Cerone, David Updegraff, and Sally O'Reilly. Solo appearances and chamber music concerts throughout North America and Europe. Former first violinist of the Everest Quartet, top prize winners at the 1995 Banff International String Quartet Competition, 1992-1996; Resident String Quartet of the Midland-Odessa Symphony and presented concerts and master classes throughout the United States. Master classes at the National Orchestral Institute and the New World Symphony. Member of the ENCORE School for Strings and Kent/Blossom faculty. Participant at summer music festivals, including the Mainly Mozart Festival, Seattle Chamber Music Festival, Orcas Island, Music at Gretna, Kent/Blossom Music, Mimir Chamber Music Festival, and the Festival der Zukunft in Switzerland. Appointed to CIM faculty, 2001.
