
William Pu
Associate Concertmaster, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra
William Pu (violin), currently holds the position of Associate Concertmaster of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra after twelve seasons with the Houston Symphony Orchestra as assistant concertmaster. Born in Shanghai, Pu graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and came to the United States to earn a masters degree from the University of Houston and study with Fredell Lack. Pu, who has won top prizes in five competitions, made his solo debut with the Houston Symphony in April 2000 and has since been soloist with many orchestras. He has toured the U.S. and China with the Chinese Virtuoso Orchestra and has served as guest concertmaster with the Dallas Symphony and the Columbus Symphony. Mr. Pu regularly performs with chamber music ensembles, including the Austin Chamber Music Center, Houston Asian Chamber Music Society, Georgia Chamber Players, and Texas Music Festival. He has taught master classes at University of Houston, Texas A&M, University of North Dakota, Louisiana State University, Lamar University, Texas Music Festival, and Austin Chamber Music Festival.
